Antique c. 1900-1920 Regency Wooden Chess Set Boxed Ebony Boxwood Chip Carved Box

  

Nice ringed turning detail on base of all pieces, kings and castles have further ring turned detail. The knights heads are made from a different wood to enable carved detail, they have a carved mane.

Deep eyes, a little chin hair and upright ears with a tiny V in them. After some research I believe this is a German Carved set after the St George Style, this is due to the interpretation of the style with sharp rings, simplified heads on knights and strongly undercut rooks.

Turned Ebony & Boxwood pieces, king measures 86mm tall, weighs 22g. Pawns measure 40mm weigh approx 4-6g. In Chip Carved Box, catch part missing, measures 21cm x 12.5cm x 6cm.

In great condition, odd little mark and ding from use, but no cracks or losses.
