The chessmen have broad barrel-bodied Kings and Queens, and are made from polished bovine bone, The King stands at 99 mm or a tadto 4 tall with a 30 mm diameter base. The pawn stand at 37 mm the base is 25 mm The Rooks are reticulated towers with fluted bases, cogged rings and a tapered staff and rigged ball finial The Bishops, Knights and Pawns are baluster mounted headpieces.

Is a good size set the set come in the original slide top box hand made from solid mahogany on the lid there is still the Thomas Tegg green label as per photos, the inner base is lined with green felted box dimension 14.5 x 11.5 x 7 cm approx the combined unwrapped weight is 483 gr in my scale. IS A VERY OLD USED SET, AND THERE SOME STAIN TINY CHIPS OF SOME OF THE PIECES, THERE ARE SLIGHT TURNING-SIZE CARVING DIFFERENCES AMONG THE SETS, WHITE SET QUEEN THE TOP STEM NEAR THE BAREL HAS BEEN RESTORED, THERE ARE 2 HAIRLINE TO THE FOOT OF 1 ROOK, FEW SPIKE TO THE KING ARE CHIPPED, RED SET THE MITRE OF 1 BISHOP IS MISSING PART OF 1 WING, THE OTHER BISHOP SHOW A TINY CHIP TO THE LOWEST COLLAR, THE QUEEN SHOW A SMALL CHIP TO THE TOP STEM NEAR THE BAREL, THERE ARE FEW TINY CHIPS TO 1 ROOK THE OLD BOX IS STILL IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, BUT ON THE LID IS A BIT LOOSE AND THERE ARE MINOR TRACE OF GLUE TO THE JOINTS, OTHER THAN IS IN WORKING ORDER I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS LOT AT THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE ALSO HOW I SEE IT BUT TAKE A LOOK TO THE PHOTOS PROVIDED AND MAKE UP YOUR MIN.
