English ebony & boxwood Staunton set, both kings stamped JAQUES LONDON. King side rooks & knights with crown stamps, all pieces with green baize to bases. The king is measures approx. The chess pieces are not weighted. Comes in original mahogany slide lid box with Jaques paper trade label to lid and original.

The internal materials has some tears and discolouration. This set is older than 100 years old and has a beautiful texture and feel. Three ebony pawn's collars and both ebony knight ear's has chips which is a usual for the ebony pieces.

The sale inludes a rare advertising book. The ABC of Chess by A LADY. Printed/produced by John Jaques & Son , 102 Hatton Garden. Some rare adverts of John Jaques games including Staunton Chess Set and Prices. The book is not in a good condition.
