Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extremely Rare Promo Limited Edition Wooden Box Set

  

This listing is for an extremely rare and highly sought-after DVD limited edition boxset of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It is considered by many experienced collectors as the Holy Grail, especially among Rings collectors. This boxset was released in Taiwan in 2003 as a highly limited promotional set, and only 2000 copies were ever produced. I imported it to the UK around the time of release from a now long-defunct Asian DVD site and it has sat proudly in my collection ever since.

The set comprises a heavy wooden casket, with the Lord of the Rings title embossed in the center of the wooden lid. The antiqued catches and hinges are all high quality and the box itself is inlaid with a black velveteen material. Inside, is a set of the three movies, all still sealed and unopened, with the promo insert still backing the slipcover which contains the three movie sets. In addition, is the cloth bag of Alan Lee artwork playing cards, unopened.

The materials are all unblemished and are in superb condition. The only thing missing from this stunning set is the outer, windowed slipcover that used to surround the box.

I removed it when I was displaying the set, and unfortunately a family member disposed of it without my knowledge. It does not detract, however, from the rarity and condition of the set. It is in near-mint condition, and has been in the home of two veteran DVD collectors for many years. We now need the space, so we are letting a few things go! Sad to see this one go, but if it can fill a gap in the collection of another collector, then thats great. Serious buyers only - this item does not come up for sale very often and, as such it is much sought after.
