Step back in time with this beautiful vintage chess set, estimated to date from the 1950s to early 1960s, complete with a charming instruction booklet from W. 19 - a known British company active in the mid-20th century. A full set of Staunton-style wooden chess pieces, varnished and felted, showing wonderful patina and classic mid-century craftsmanship. The original wooden box with dual compartments for dark and light pieces - metal hinges with aged patina. A rare vintage chess rules booklet titled "The Laws of the Game of Chess" - an evocative piece of British print history. A wooden chessboard with authentic wear - may not be original to the set, but a lovely complement in style and tone. Pieces are in good vintage condition with signs of wear appropriate to age (see photos).
